Summary:

Solid Biosciences is looking to hire a Senior Scientist, Immunology. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist with expertise in immunology to drive our internal research efforts to understand the immune response to gene therapy. This person will be part of the R&D team with the goal of advancing our understanding of the immune response to introduced AAV vectors, including innate and adaptive immune activation, and how to modulate or suppress these responses in the clinical setting.  You will design and execute pre-clinical studies to explore immunological aspects of gene therapy that have application to clinical trial design. 

Key Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Design and execute well-controlled experiments to demonstrate proof of concept and generate mechanistic understanding of immune response to gene therapy using cellular and animal models
  • Identify and establish assays for in-depth characterization of innate and adaptive immune responses
  • Design and coordinate preclinical studies to develop and evaluate immune-monitoring and controlling strategy
  • Identify and manage collaborative relationships internally and externally to resource and advance portfolio projects, including development of research plans and data analysis
  • Introduce new technologies to expand R&D capabilities
  • Clearly analyze, communicate, and present scientific findings
  • Performs other related duties and ad hoc projects as required by position

Knowledge: Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • PhD and post‐doctoral experience in Immunology, Cell Biology, Virology, or Pharmacology with 5+ years’ experience in development of new biological therapeutics or pharmaceutical products
  • Proven track record in assay development and characterization of immune mechanisms
  • Strong experience in cell-based and in vivo translational models in immunology
  • Excellent technical skills such as flow cytometry, primary cell culture, immune subset cell and PBMC isolation, and functional analysis of immune system
  • Knowledge and experimental proficiency in AAV vector research preferred

Travel Commitment:

  • Travel required up to 20%
